Free Mock Tests for the New TOEFL iBT® Test (2026): ETS's Own and Others Compared

In short

• ETS gives away two full-length practice tests in the 2026 format, online and as PDFs with audio, plus an interactive sampler with one task of every type.
• ETS's free PDFs come with answer keys for Reading, Listening, and Build a Sentence, but nothing scores your email, discussion post, or Speaking answers. Those are the parts you can't check yourself.
• For a score on all four sections, several sites give you one free mock test with Writing and Speaking scored: Magoosh, TestGlider, BestMyTest, TOEFLMock, and MockPrep (ours).
• ETS's own scored mock test, TOEFL Practice Online, is paid: US$49 for one test.

ETS's free official practice

These are the most reliable picture of the real questions, so use them. The catch is scoring: ETS's paper practice tests note that they aren't an exact replica of the test, and they can't tell you what band your writing or speaking would get.

ETS's paid mock test: TOEFL Practice Online

• TOEFL Practice Online (TPO) is ETS's timed, adaptive mock test with section and overall scores. It doesn't let you review your answers afterward.
• ETS's U.S. store lists it at US$49 for one test, US$99 for three, and US$179 for six.
• In South Korea, ETS sells TPO through a local provider rather than its own store.

Each line below is what the site says on its own pages, checked on the date at the top of this guide. Free offers change, so check before you start. We run MockPrep, so it's listed last and described the same way.

What a scored mock test costs

After the free one, a full mock test on MockPrep costs US$3.75 to US$6 depending on the credit pack, against US$29.83 to US$49 for ETS's own TOEFL Practice Online: less than a sixth of the price.

• Retaking a set you've bought is free.

What makes a mock test worth your time

• It's really the 2026 format. All twelve task types, adaptive Reading and Listening, and the real time limits. A test with long reading passages or integrated speaking tasks is the old test.
• It scores Writing and Speaking. You can mark Reading and Listening yourself; you can't give yourself a band for an email or a spoken answer.
• It tells you why. Explanations for wrong answers, and results grouped by task type, are what turn a score into a plan.
• It runs under test conditions. One sitting, a clock that doesn't stop, no breaks.

How to use mock tests

1. Take one early for a starting band, before you decide what to study.
2. Practice the task types that cost you the most points, not the ones you already do well.
3. Take another a few weeks later to see whether the practice worked, and again closer to test day.
4. Sit at least one like the real thing: the same time of day as your test, in one go, with no phone and no pausing. The new test has no scheduled break.
